Care & Counseling

At times, everyone faces difficulties that are too difficult to handle alone. When turning to family or friends just isn’t enough, the Pastoral Counseling Ministry of Warren offers counseling approaches that both honor Christ and take into consideration the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

Pastoral Counseling

Counseling requires patience, commitment, and trust. It involves working with a trained professional to address emotional, psychological, social, and behavioral issues. Typically, the first step in counseling is an initial consultation to discuss your concerns and goals with the counselor. From there, the counselor will work with you to create a plan tailored to your specific needs. This may involve weekly or bi-weekly counseling sessions and homework assignments to practice new skills.

Over time, counseling can help you gain insight and develop healthier coping strategies to improve your overall well-being. Therefore, your counseling depends largely on your willingness to engage in this process, which may sometimes result in significant discomfort. In other words, sometimes, we may feel worse before we feel better, and others may not be happy about the changes you make. But if you persevere, we will support you and help you clarify what you want for yourself. And you can stop at any given time. The choice is yours.

Support & Recovery Groups

Support Groups are for those needing encouragement and support during a period of suffering or hardship. Groups are open to those in our community. Some may require a workbook purchase so check the event detail.

Warren seasonally offers a variety of groups: Divorce Care, Enduring the Loss of a Child, Grief Care, Financial Peace University, Anxiety-Depression, Marriage Betrayal for Women and Survivors of Sexual Abuse for Women. We also offer groups that meet year-round: Parenting in a Broken World, Freedom Groups (men only) and Substance Abuse. See below for a list of current or upcoming groups.

Freedom Recovery Groups are working groups that help those suffering from addiction. These groups will be active in encouraging behavior change, especially in times of relapse or when encountering difficulties during recovery. Working groups help you establish accountability measures and live addiction-free lives. Is it time to change your story?
