Thank God for His Steadfast love

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. –Lamentations 3:22-23

Father, thank You for the never-ending care You show to Your people. I pray that You would manifest Your steadfast love in the hearts and lives of those with needs this week. Would you bring healing, hope, and help to those who are struggling with illnesses. Would You bring comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. And by the power of Your Word and the presence of Your Holy Spirit, would You show Yourself mighty in these situations. I ask that You display mercy where it is needed, strength in the struggles, and the grace to sustain them through the times of doubt and fear. Thank You for Your sovereign care over Your people. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Give God Thanks in Prayer

The Eternal is the source of my strength and the shield that guards me.
When I learn to rest and truly trust Him, He sends His help. This is why my heart is singing! I open my mouth to praise Him, and thankfulness rises as song.  – Psalm 28:7 (The Voice)

To be thankful to God in your heart is one thing, but to voice those thoughts and pronounce them aloud is all together different. It is in raising our voices to God and thanking Him, even before the request has been answered, that we show our dependence on God and true belief that He can do anything!

What are you thankful for today? A grateful heart is not a fearful heart; it is a trusting heart!

Make a “Thankful List” this week. As you do you will guard your heart for battle and tune your heart with a song of joy!

God is accessible.

Deuteronomy 4:7: What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we prayer to him?

Our God is easily reached. He is near. Many times we fail to draw near to the Father and commune with Him in prayer. Instead we try to handle things on our own. This is actually a sign of pride signifying self-reliance rather than dependency on God.

As you pray this week think about these questions:

  • Are you thankful for His desire to come near to you?
  • Have you thanked Him lately for always being there?
  • Do you need to confess any areas of self-reliance to the Lord?

As you pray ask the Lord to come near to those you know and fulfill every need they have by His power and presence.

Pray Without CeasingPray without ceasing – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

This verse exhorts us to pray continually. It reminds us that prayer needs to become a way of life for us. As we go about our day, we should do so in an attitude of prayer.

As we learn to “pray continually” we learn the lesson that we need to be “poor in spirit.” In other words, we need to be continually dependent upon God. The result is that prayer becomes as natural for us as breathing.

We must have air to live, and we must have prayer to live!

Acts 17:28 says it this way …

In Him we live and move and have our being.

Everything must begin and end with God. He doesn’t need us to pray for His sake; He wants us to pray for our own sake

A.W. Pink puts it this way …

Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude – an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God.

What is your attitude about prayer?

Do you need prayer like you need air?

Show your dependency on God by communing with Him throughout your day and as you do, pray for those you know who need God’s hand of provision for their situation.

Since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:22-25

Praise God for …

  • Jesus, your High Priest.
  • His purity and holiness
  • The precious blood that was shed on the cross by Jesus
  • The gift of Jesus as your King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Thank God for …

  • Being a faithful promise keeper
  • The assurance of your salvation
  • The shed blood of Christ Jesus
  • His love that is in you
  • The encouragement from other believers

Ask God to …

  • Prepare you for the week ahead
  • Empower you through the Holy Spirit to speak boldly about Him to others with humble and gentle love
  • Use you as an instrument of encouragement, reconciliation, and peace this week

Blessings,

So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” – Genesis 22:14

God is Jehovah-jireh …

Inherent with this name and character of God is His desire to provide for His people. In the Hebrew jireh means “to see.” When paired with the covenant name of God, Jehovah, this name literally means that Jehovah will see to it. He sees and foresees. He is omniscient; He sees our beginning and our end, and He makes provision for us in light of who He is.

God provided us with a perfect sacrifice through His Son, Jesus. God saw us in our sin and made the perfect provision for us. As we celebrate the Easter season, think about Jesus as God’s perfect provision for you and for me. What does this mean to you?

What does this mean to you in prayer?

It means that you can rest in the fact that Jehovah-jireh will see to your need. He will provide for your needs, plan your way, make a way, and take care of you. Just as He provided for your salvation, planned for it and made a way for it through Christ. Isn’t that a comforting reality?

God will see to it. He will see to you. Think about that as you pray for the needs of yourself and others this week. Jehovah, the self-existent, covenant keeping God, promises to make the best way and provide in the best way for those who are His. Pray confidently and take refuge in this comforting character of God.

And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Read these words of Jesus prior to his crucifixion in John 17:15-19 …

I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Confession is an important part of prayer. Just as Jesus cleansed the temple in Matthew 21:12-17, believers must cleanse themselves as the Holy Spirit of God now resides in our bodies. As Easter approaches take time this week to reflect on the perfection of Christ and the imperfections of man. In light of who Jesus is, what confession do you need to make to the Father in order to be pure, holy and blameless before Him?

David wrote a beautiful Psalm of confession in Psalm 51. Pray this Psalm to the Lord inserting your name. Then ask God to show you any specific un-confessed sins that need to be brought before Him.

Ask God:

  • Are my eyes seeing anything that is not pleasing to You?
  • Are my ears hearing anything that is not pleasing to You?
  • Is my mouth saying anything that is not pleasing to You?
  • Are my hands doing anything that is not pleasing to You?
  • Are my thoughts and attitudes in line with You?
